What it does

The Twin pair finder builds pairs from nothing: pick a gender for Twin A and a gender for Twin B, optionally require the pair to share an origin or to have rhyme-ish endings, and it suggests up to 8 pairs from the approved catalog. Every pair can be opened straight into the Compare tool for a closer look. Like its sibling tool, it calls itself a heuristic — a very good first draft. Since the tools consolidation, this tool lives on the Sibling & family names page as the Twins mode — the Try-it link below lands you right on it, and the old address redirects there too.

Who it’s for

Twin parents starting from a blank page (or from "definitely rhyming" / "definitely NOT rhyming" energy).

How to use it, step by step

  1. Pick Twin A's gender and Twin B's gender.
  2. Optionally tick Same origin, Rhyme-ish ending, or both.
  3. Tap Find pairs and browse up to 8 suggested pairs.
  4. Open any pair in Compare to see the two names side by side in detail.

What you get

Up to 8 catalog twin pairs matched to your gender and style filters, each openable in Compare.

✦ A worked example

You give it

Twin A: girl, Twin B: girl, same origin ticked.

You get

Eight girl-girl pairs that share roots — coordinated sets you can then interrogate one by one in Compare.

💡 Tips & tricks

  • Rhyme-ish endings are fun but wear thin at roll call; the same-origin pairs tend to age better. Try both and compare honestly.
  • No pairs for your filters? Loosen one constraint — the tool suggests browsing by letter as a fallback path.

Enough reading — the tool itself is one tap away, and it is free.
