Family style matcher

Your family has a naming style. This finds it — then feeds it.

What it does

The Family style matcher reads the names already in your family and extracts their style DNA — first letters, origins, syllable counts, endings — then finds catalog names that fit the pattern. You choose which traits to enforce (same first letter, same origin, similar syllables, same ending) and the gender mix (any, same genders as the family, or gender-neutral only), and it returns names that fit the family style, with a readout of the style it detected. Since the tools consolidation, this tool lives on the Sibling & family names page as the Family style mode — the Try-it link below lands you right on it, and the old address redirects there too.

Who it’s for

Anyone who looks at their kids' names and sees a pattern they cannot quite name — or wants to deliberately continue one.

How to use it, step by step

  1. Paste the names already in your family (the placeholder suggests "Olivia, Emma").
  2. Tick the style traits to keep: first letter, origin, syllables, ending.
  3. Choose a gender mix and tap Find matching names.
  4. Copy the suggestions or the link to share your family-style results.

What you get

A style readout of your family names plus catalog suggestions that match the traits you selected.

✦ A worked example

You give it

Family: Olivia, Emma. Traits: same ending, similar syllables.

You get

A "Style read from" summary of the pattern, then names ending in that same soft -a rhythm at a similar length.

💡 Tips & tricks

  • If nothing fits, untick traits one at a time — four traits at once is a tight corset, and the tool tells you when the catalog cannot fill it.
  • The style readout alone is worth the visit: it often names the pattern ("short, vowel-ending, Latin roots") you had only felt.

Enough reading — the tool itself is one tap away, and it is free.
