Sound-alike names

You love how it sounds. Here is its whole sound family.

What it does

Sound-alike names finds catalog names that sound like a favorite, matched by phonetic sound codes rather than spelling — so it catches the Caherine/Katherine-style near-twins that letter searches miss. When your seed is in the catalog, you can filter by gender (any, same as the seed, different) and origin (any, or same origin). Copy the sound-alikes or the link.

Who it’s for

Anyone who fell for a sound before a spelling — or who loves a name but needs a version that works better with their surname, language, or family.

How to use it, step by step

  1. Type the name that sounds right (press / to focus).
  2. Optionally set gender and origin filters.
  3. Tap Find sound-alikes and browse the phonetic family.
  4. Copy the list or the link to share it.

What you get

Catalog names phonetically close to your seed, filterable by gender and origin.

✦ A worked example

You give it

Seed: a name you adore that is, unfortunately, your cousin's pick too.

You get

Its sound family: names with the same music and different identities — the diplomatic solution, delivered by phonetics.

💡 Tips & tricks

  • "Same origin" plus sound-alike is the heritage-preserving move: same feel, same roots, new name.
  • Pair with Rhymes: rhymes match the ending, sound-alikes match the whole silhouette.
