A silicone pump is the simplest pump there is: one piece of food-grade silicone, with no motor, cords, or settings. Squeeze it, place it, and gentle suction collects the let-down from one side while the baby feeds on the other — milk that would otherwise soak into a pad.

The second-generation shape adds a suction base, so a full pump does not tip off the nightstand, and a cap keeps the contents covered until they reach a bottle or bag. Rinse or sterilise the single piece and it is ready again — the entire wash-up is one item.

Set expectations honestly: it collects let-down and relieves fullness; it does not empty the breast like an electric pump and is not a supply-building tool. If you are pumping to maintain supply or to feed away from the baby, ask a lactation clinician what setup fits.

Highlights

Worth knowing: Suction strength depends on how much you squeeze — too firm can be uncomfortable. Start gentle.

Price note: Silicone pumps are often $18–28 with a cap.
