My Water Broke!
A hilarious and suspenseful game where guests wait for their frozen baby to 'hatch' from an ice cube. It requires no skill but gets everyone cheering and interacting.
What you need
- Small plastic babies (one for each guest)
- An ice cube tray
- Water
- Clear plastic cups
Setup
- The night before the shower, place one plastic baby into each section of the ice cube tray, fill with water, and freeze overnight.
- As guests arrive, serve them a beverage of their choice (water, lemonade, or mocktails) in a clear cup, and drop one 'baby ice cube' into their drink.
How to play
- Tell guests to keep a close eye on their drinks. As the ice melts, the plastic baby will eventually be freed.
- The first guest to notice their baby is completely out of the ice must shout, 'My water broke!'
- The host confirms the baby is fully melted, and that guest wins a prize.
- Guests can try to melt their ice faster by blowing on it or holding the cup with warm hands, adding to the fun.
Variations
- Warm Weather Edition: Let guests hold their ice cubes in their hands outside to see who can melt it the fastest.
- No Drinks Allowed: Provide bowls of warm water for guests to float their ice cubes in, instead of putting them in beverages.
- Timed Race Edition: Skip the drinks — hand each guest a frozen baby cube and a tracking slip (player name + time freed). First to melt the ice and free the baby using hands only — no mouths — wins.
