Baby Animal Match
A quick, educational brain teaser. Test your guests' animal knowledge by having them match the adult animal species to the specific name of its baby.
What you need
- Pre-printed matching worksheets
- Pens or pencils
- A master answer key for the host
Setup
- Prepare a worksheet. On the left side, list 10-15 adult animals (e.g., Kangaroo, Swan, Sheep, Frog, Goose, Goat).
- On the right side, list the baby names in a scrambled order (e.g., Joey, Cygnet, Lamb, Tadpole, Gosling, Kid).
- Print enough copies for all guests.
How to play
- Distribute the worksheets face down and hand out pens.
- Tell guests they have exactly 3 minutes to draw lines matching the adult animal to its correct baby name.
- Start the timer.
- When time is up, the host reads the correct answers aloud while guests mark their own papers.
- The guest with the highest number of correct matches wins.
Variations
- Obscure Animals Only: Make it very difficult for adults by including animals like echidnas (puggle), platypuses (puggle), or hares (leveret).
- Shout-Out Round: Instead of paper, the host holds up a picture of an adult animal, and the first person to yell the baby name gets a point.
