Contraction timer

Start, stop, and let the 5-1-1 rule keep score.

What it does

The Contraction Timer Studio times contractions and the gaps between them with one big START/STOP button, tags intensity (mild, moderate, severe), and watches for 5-1-1 active-labor indicators — contractions about 5 minutes apart, lasting about 1 minute, for about 1 hour. It keeps a recorded contraction log with labor progression analytics, supports live partner and doula collaboration (sync link, QR code, shared notes like "Water broke at 3:15 PM"), exports to CSV, and prints a Labor Contraction Timing Report for the hospital.

Who it’s for

Anyone in early labor who needs facts instead of vibes — and the partner or doula who gets asked "how far apart are they?" every four minutes.

How to use it, step by step

  1. Tap START the moment a contraction begins and STOP when it eases off.
  2. Tag the intensity while it is fresh, and repeat — duration and frequency build automatically.
  3. Glance at the analytics tab to see frequency distribution and whether the 5-1-1 pattern is forming.
  4. Add partner observations in the notes as things happen (water breaking, a warm bath, a call to the midwife).
  5. Share the live QR code with your doula, and print or export the log when you head in.

What you get

A timed contraction log with durations, frequencies, intensity breakdown, 5-1-1 pattern detection, and a printable hospital report.

✦ A worked example

You give it

Six contractions timed over half an hour, each about 50 seconds, roughly five minutes apart, mostly moderate.

You get

The log shows the pattern plainly — duration, frequency, and intensity — exactly the summary a triage nurse asks for on the phone.

💡 Tips & tricks

  • Do not delete "practice" rounds — Clear History exists, but keeping early sessions shows how the pattern tightened over time.
  • The CSV export is the fastest way to hand a long log to a care team without printing pages.
