## 1. The CDC number clinics will quote
One in ten U.S. births in 2024 had pregnancy-onset high blood pressure on the certificate (10.4%, up from 6.0% in 2016). Trade coverage recirculated the NCHS report on 30 September. The useful move is not panic. It is knowing whether *your* discharge plan includes an early blood-pressure check. Deep dive: /blog/gestational-hypertension-cdc-deep-dive-30-september-2026
## 2. RSV season is no longer “tomorrow”
1 October 2026 is the AAP start of the continental U.S. infant RSV-antibody window for this season. If a newborn is still in hospital, ask whether nirsevimab or clesrovimab is in the discharge bundle. If you are 32–36 weeks pregnant, the maternal RSV shot conversation is separate and already running on the ACOG calendar.
## 3. Leftover product: unplug the nightstand machine
CPSC recalled Love To Dream portable sleep machines (model LTD-SM23, date code 7W15TN) on 24 September for lithium-ion overheat / fire and burn risk — about 4,000 units, Target, Nordstrom, Amazon, Babylist, and the brand site. No incidents listed in the notice. Stop using a matching unit, do not leave it charging, register at the maker recall page cited by CPSC. Do not put a lithium pack in household trash.
Also still on the week’s list: Skip Hop Elmo silicone teether if it was frozen; Melissa & Doug Lights & Sounds Fire Truck Activity Board hose port; marketplace infant walkers with a stop-use warning (not a recall).
