**Parent Briefing — October 15, 2026**
CDC and FDA updates this week linked the Nara Organics infant botulism outbreak to the earlier ByHeart outbreak through whole-genome sequencing and a shared powdered-milk supplier. Both outbreaks are now declared over, but the root-cause investigation continues.
**What to do today**
- Check any ByHeart or Nara Organics powdered formula against the full recall lists on FDA.gov.
- Stop using and discard any recalled product.
- Watch for signs of infant botulism: constipation, weak cry, poor feeding, floppy limbs, or decreased movement. Call your pediatrician or the 24/7 Infant Botulism Treatment line at 510-231-7600 immediately if you suspect it.
- Discuss formula options with your clinician if you are switching brands.
This remains a rare event. Continue normal feeding, well visits, and immunizations.
