## 1. AAP and Apple published a family screen guide today
On 29 September 2026 Apple and the American Academy of Pediatrics released "Building Healthy Digital Habits: A Guide for Families." It maps AAP age-banded media advice onto Apple's current parental controls (Child Account, Ask to Buy, Ask to Browse, Time Allowances).
The infant section is the part that matters for this site: under 18 months, screens are not a babysitter. Video chat with a grandparent is the usual exception pediatric groups still allow. The guide is a product-tied how-to, not a new AAP policy rewrite. Read the AAP age notes first, then decide whether the Apple controls match your house.

## 2. Dollar-bin light-up toys with open button batteries

## 3. RSV window is Wednesday
Most of the continental United States opens the 2026–2027 infant RSV immunization window on 1 October. First-season infants still have the broad recommendation. Second-season high-risk groups are wider this year. Ask the birth hospital and the pediatric office now if a nursery dose is in stock — insurance coverage at discharge is still uneven.
