Papablic Convertible Bedside Sleepers Recalled: Suffocation and Collapse Risks

Guides · October 16, 2026 · 2 min read · By AnbuBaby

On October 15, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of about 248 Papablic convertible bedside sleepers with play yard extensions (model PAPA03001AI).

The hazards
The products violate the mandatory safety standard for play yards. The mattress can become displaced, leaving a gap where a baby can become entrapped between the sleeping pad and the bottom of the product — a deadly suffocation hazard. Separately, the latching and locking mechanism can fail, causing the sleeper to collapse and creating additional entrapment and fall risks.

No incidents or injuries have been reported so far.

How to identify the recalled product

  • Model: PAPA03001AI
  • Gray exterior with stars-and-moon pattern interior
  • “Papablic” stitched in white on the front panel
  • Model number printed on a label sewn to the interior fabric underneath the mattress pad
  • Sold on Amazon and papablic.com from April 2025 through July 2026 for about $190

What parents should do
Stop using the sleeper immediately. Contact Papablic ([email protected] or the recall page on papablic.com) for a refund. You will be asked to disassemble the product, cut the mattress and fabric components in half, and email photos of the destroyed pieces as proof of destruction. Once verified, Papablic issues a full refund.

Background
Bedside sleepers are durable infant products regulated under CPSC rules that incorporate ASTM F2906. Convertible models that also function as play yards must meet additional requirements so that mattresses stay secure and frames do not collapse. Small production runs (here only ~248 units) can still reach many homes through registries, gifts, and secondhand markets.

What to watch next
Check any bedside sleeper or convertible bassinet/play yard in your home or that of relatives. Register durable infant products when possible so manufacturers can contact you about future recalls. CPSC continues to issue frequent warnings and recalls for sleep and seating products that fail mandatory standards — mattress displacement and missing or non-preassembled restraints remain common failure modes.
